Melissa Gaskill, a native Texan, has served as coach, volunteer and fan for various youth sports, including lacrosse, kickball, soccer, softball, and football. A prolific professional writer for more than 15 years, Melissa has shared her experiences with readers for national and regional publications such as Family Fun, The Nature Conservancy Magazine, Wildflower, Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine, American Way, Stardate, Texas Highways, NurseWeek, HEAL, and Texas Co-op Power Magazine. She has also contributed to numerous local publications such as San Antonio Express News, Austin American Statesman, and The Good Life. She writes on a variety of topics, including travel, the outdoors, mild adventure, parenting, health and fitness, and more. She wrote a weekly parenting column, “The Children’s Connection,” for The Austin American Statesman for six years.
