After spending his childhood in Iran, author James Pipkin graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, Arkansas, in 1985, having never taken Geometry or Algebra 2. However, he overcame his math deficiency and managed to take Pre-Calculus and Statistics to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin.
Mr. Pipkin has over 15 years of experience tutoring math, English, and science. He owns and operates a successful tutoring and test preparation company in Arlington, Texas, in business for more than a decade. Mr. Pipkin’s skill of simplifying difficult problems like SAT math questions to make them easier to understand has helped many local students. He has trained hundreds of students, increasing SAT scores by an average of 189 points! He also enjoys tutoring and mentoring students outside of the SAT environment and has been a part-time church youth director for three years.
He was honorably discharged from the USAF Air National Guard in 1994 and still enjoys camping and hiking in Big Bend National Park every summer. Mr. Pipkin also enjoys an active life that includes softball, astronomy, camping, fishing, and skiing.
